8/18 decided to regress musically and listen to the beatles again - a band i know far too much about. specifically, i listened to both the john and yoko versions of their plastic band. john's lugubrious and repetitive songs didn't stick it for me, but felt like an interpretation of glass or cage - i guess he was really into primal therapy at the time (whatever that means!) we all owe yoko a big apology - her early work was visionary for punk rock, even if most of it sounds like ass. those vocal warblings aren't easy to do! loved "why not" and their joint venture "double fantasy" is pretty fun if we're being honest!

8/7 listened to all of the recorded versions of the Sunjata tale that i could find - just four! so much for the dream of the internet. may have to check soulseek later.

resident advisor announced that they're dropping all 999 podcasts of their dj mixes again dating back to 2006. the equivalent of relaunching the library of alexandria

8/5 downloaded all of the recommended albums from resident advisor onto my phone, since i find pitchfork so unreliable these days. i know this is a market issue: itunes really led a renaissannce in indie rock in the early 2010s.

what i'm liking:
planet mu 30 - v/a: one of the few great labels still with it. jlin leads the album and her influence feels resonant in the rp boo track. still nothing cooler than the sound of cocking a gun in an electronic music track (slikback). ship sket sounds like final boss music. who is "bae bae" - like it!
romance in the age of adaptive feedback - unspecified enemies: perfect peter music. the title track is truly romantic - imaginary 80s synth music. do you think squidward would have been into idm?
